Generative AI in HR: 4 ways to use it in the recruiting process

We know that more and more people are talking about Artificial Intelligence, including recruiters, because with now widespread and readily available tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and other cutting-edge technologies, it is possible to reduce the time needed to execute repetitive tasks and therefore focus on more strategic activities.

In the world of human resources management, this trend is also confirmed by a Deloitte research study that analyses the actions taken by companies regarding the adoption of AI and its possible impacts.
In the HR sector, 75% of companies undoubtedly expect that Generative AI will bring significant changes, within the next two years, in the active search for talent. Despite the high percentage of companies “confident” in this (which demonstrates being very open to the technologies of the future), 41% of businesses struggled to define and measure the exact impact of their efforts related to Generative AI.
In addition, in the months prior to the study, it emerged that 39% of the interviewed companies expected to increase their workforce thanks to the integration of Generative AI within the next 12 months, while 38% were thinking the workforce would not change, partly because they did not expect the integration to have major effects.

All this said, if it is true (as suspected) that the potential of Generative AI in the HR sector is considerable, how can it actually be used in a practical way?
Let’s find out in this article, which suggests 4 ways to use Gen AI right away.

Content generation to support the recruitment phases

Some say “Content is the king” and, in an era in which everything is content, this also applies to recruiting, especially in a labour market such as the current one, with far more variables than in the past, where ensuring talent attraction, as well as retention, is crucial.

Generative Artificial Intelligence  – which can generate texts, images, videos and more – can be used, for example, to create job postings. In this case, using the right prompts (commands), you can ask it to write an engaging job advertisement that helps attract candidates with certain characteristics, using a certain type of language and some keywords.

The Generative AI features are available with Inda, the recruitment-specific artificial intelligence technology, and can also be used in ATS Inrecruiting. With these tools, you can create job ads that are perfectly aligned with the business sector and specific to the position you are looking to fill. You can do this by entering simple basic information such as:

  • required role
  • sector
  • company name
  • link to company website or career page
  • additional information such as skills, the language of the ad, work locations, etc.

Generative AI allows you to create a complete job ad that can be used as a starting point; you can then add your own personal touch, with specific integrations or changes in the tone of voice.
You can also decide to share the ad on social media and generate a text for the post with Generative AI, differentiating the message according to the channel used (LinkedIn, Facebook, X, etc.).

But it’s not just ads. With AI systems like ChatGPT, Gemini or others, you can create posts for social media – or at least a starting point – and also obtain texts to edit the career page and so on.

Remember: when publishing texts online, it is always good to view the Generative AI’s creation as a starting point and not as the finished product. This is important to avoid content duplication, also from an SEO perspective, and to ensure consistency with what has already been done.

Suggestions on which questions to ask during interviews

Job interviews have changed a bit in recent years because, as we said above, work relationships have also changed. Compared to the past (when people knew less about companies and had lower expectations), today’s candidates ask more questions; they are focussed on the salary as much as on certain benefits and perks; they want to be able to work in smart mode and so on.

A job interview, where people who have the required characteristics and the company that is looking for personnel meet, must therefore be treated as a productive moment and an opportunity for discussion. Sometimes, however, HR may be tired after having interviewed many candidates or have run out of ideas after being engaged in search and selection activities for a long time. Or, more simply, HR may feel the need to brainstorm and understand if the questions they are planning to ask, for a (possibly very technical) specific role, are suitable for the context. In this case, Generative AI can be a great help.

Among the features of Inda’s Generative AI, available to HR professionals, there is also the interview question generation feature, which allows you to understand what to ask during the job interview by providing a list of assessment questions that are relevant to a specific position.

It is a very useful and easy-to-use tool: simply enter the job title to have a list of possible questions relevant to the position you are looking to fill. To refine the type of questions that the tool can propose, you can choose to focus on profession-related technical skills or soft skills.

Furthermore, you can add the reference to the ad that the candidate responded to, so that the template has more detailed information on the open position.

Use data to make more informed decisions

AI allows you to process a lot of data and transform it into understandable and immediately usable information, which can considerably improve the recruitment process.

How about some examples? Thanks to AI, you can identify trends – among candidates and among employees – and generate detailed reports that provide you with an overview of what is happening. This allows people working in the HR world to make decisions based on adequate and sufficient information that can have an impact on both ongoing selections and on the productivity of people already in the company. AI tools can also offer real-time analytics on employee sentiment and more. Remember that, for all-round interpretation, a tool – any tool – always needs people

Improve communication with employees

Last but not least, Gen AI can make a huge contribution in communication with employees, especially in large companies.

Thanks to artificial intelligence chatbots, it is possible to give immediate answers to people and, in collaboration with HR, create personalised paths (e.g. related to learning or other things), thus improving the individual experience.

Instead of waiting days and days (or even months) to receive feedback on a request, even a minor one, people can have a first response thanks to AI, which will make them feel welcomed, considered and probably less isolated.
